To kick off a new initiative, the HealthTech Hub Africa is launching an Intergovernmental Working Group (“IWG”) on the 23-24th of March 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. The IWG will be a platform for multilateral discussions on policy between public health administrators and the HealthTech Hub Africa to facilitate the fast-tracking of HealthTech innovations in public health systems.
The initiative “Fast-tracking HealthTech Innovations in Africa” aims to identify and catalyze scalable technology solutions that can address Africa’s health challenges.
Our approach is to work collaboratively with African governments to identify population health policy gaps and influence health policies, spur health innovations that address existing health challenges, and—through an iterative process of learning and adapting—create a blueprint for fast-tracking health innovations in Africa and beyond.
In the Blueprint, we will gather and distill policy insights and learnings from use cases of the HealthTech Hub Africa innovations to provide practical recommendations and techniques to help government officials apply long-term strategic thinking in policymaking. They can be reused, refined, and retrofitted to national policy contexts to maintain consistency and efficacy.
We aim to translate insights into action to achieve tangible population health impact and narrow health inequities through integrating and scaling solutions in the public health systems.
We welcome HealthTech Hub Africa innovators and government champions to join us in this effort to bring positive change to our communities. Let’s work together to shape the future of health and care, and make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
