Innovators/Startups Case Studies

Explore case studies highlighting experiences from innovators in scaling up their digital health solutions.

The featured case studies originate from the 2024 HTHA Innovation Challenge, supported by the Novartis Foundation. The Challenge awarded $400,000 in catalytic funding to seven healthtech companies – Helium Health, Emergency Response Africa, eFiche, Afya Intelligence, MedTrack Technologies, Aurora Health Systems, and HealthX Africa – across five African countries: Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ghana, and Kenya. The goal was to help these innovators demonstrate and scale their solutions within public health systems.

Each case study highlights real-world implementation experiences, impact, and lessons learned as these companies worked to close critical gaps in access, quality, and client-centered care. Collectively, they showcase both the promise of healthtech innovation and the systemic barriers that must be overcome to achieve sustainable integration in Africa’s public health systems.
