HTHA Resource Hub The HealthTech Hub Africa (HTHA) Resource Hub is a dynamic platform designed to help users easily access essential information and policy resources.

It brings together a wide range of materials - including policies, tools, case studies, standards, guidance documents, and technical reports - to support innovators, investors, governments, and other stakeholders involved in developing and scaling digital health solutions. By offering contextualized examples and actionable resources, the HTHA Resource Hub empowers users to turn information into meaningful impact.

Why the Resource Hub

The HTHA resource hub aims to solve four key challenges for
its audience:

Fragmented resources:

Digital health policy resources are dispersed across multiple platforms, making it difficult for busy users to locate and consolidate them.

The Resource Hub serves as a centralized repository, offering easy access to all relevant digital health policy materials.

Vague policy processes:

Many start-ups are led by innovators who lack clarity on policy frameworks and procedures, often encountering barriers when attempting to launch or scale their solutions.

The Resource Hub features comprehensive policy analysis from six countries, with plans to expand coverage. It also offers advocacy tools to help start-ups and implementers effectively engage with policymakers and navigate regulatory challenges.

Lack of shared learning:

Innovators frequently encounter similar challenges during development and scale-up of their solutions, yet lessons learned are rarely shared, leading to repeated mistakes.

The Resource Hub includes detailed case studies that document start-up experiences and key lessons, fostering peer learning and informed innovation.

Limited brand visibility:

Many start-ups often lack the resources to promote their innovations to governments and investors. As a result, transformative solutions may go unnoticed.

The Resource Hub showcases impactful case studies, highlighting successful innovations and their contributions to digital health.

Case studies

Bringing a digital health solution to the market is a complex journey, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to success. In this section, we spotlight diverse start-ups and explore how they scaled their innovations - their experiences, obstacles, strategies for overcoming them, and the lessons they learned. These insights aim to help other innovators avoid common pitfalls and accelerate their own journeys.

We also highlight how governments across Africa are supporting digital health innovation, showcasing initiatives and partnerships that enable start-ups to thrive and expand their impact.

Policy Advocay

In many cases, innovation outpaces policy development. As a result, promising digital health solutions may encounter bottlenecks when scaling, especially if innovators lack the knowledge or tools to influence policy change. Without strategic engagement, these solutions risk failing to reach their intended markets.

To address this challenge, the Resource Hub introduces the SMART Advocacy Strategy - a practical approach that empowers innovators and implementers to drive policy change and create enabling environments for digital health scale-up.

Country Policy Landscape

Across Africa, countries are increasingly developing policies and frameworks to support the adoption and scale-up of digital health solutions. This section provides a snapshot of where different countries currently stand in their digital health policy journeys - offering a useful starting point for innovators, policymakers, and stakeholders seeking to understand and engage with national contexts.
