MedTrack Technologies

Background of the company

MedTrack is a Ghanaian digital health company working to strengthen data-driven decision-making and continuity of care through interoperable health information systems.

The gap that the company is addressing

Public health facilities in Ghana struggle with fragmented data systems, limited connectivity, and inefficient workflows, leading to reduced operational efficiency and poor data sharing.

The reach and/or impact of the healthtech solution

The solution reached 6,100 beneficiaries, established 2 public and 1 private partnership, raised $35,000, and created 4 jobs. Integrated into 5 public facilities, MedTrack demonstrated a viable model for healthcare delivery in low-connectivity environments.

The healthtech solution and how it was implemented

MedTrack developed a platform that enhances interoperability and offline data access, working with the Ghana Health Service to serve communities in the Gomoa East District. Implementation focused on pilot testing across public facilities and integrating the platform into existing health structures, with active involvement from healthcare providers, government officials, and funders such as the WFP Innovation Accelerator. Operating under an MoU with the Ghana Health Service, the initiative advances the government’s digital transformation agenda by improving interoperability and data access in public facilities, key priorities of Ghana’s Health Sector Medium-Term Development Plan.

Lessons learned from the experience

MedTrack’s key insight was that regulatory ambiguity and fragmented licensing slow innovation despite strong policy intent. The company advocates for unified licensing, interoperability standards, and digital health legislation to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
